Jamming emitter localization with multiple UAVs equipped with smart antennas

چکیده
This paper presents a wideband jamming emitter localization method based on the fusion of multiple direction-ofarrivals (DOAs) and time-difference-of-arrival(s) (TDOA(s)) obtained from multiple unmanned-aerial-vehicles (UAVs). In this technique, we assume that multiple trajectory controllable UAVs are available and they are equipped with smart antennas to estimate the emitter’s angle (DOA) with respect to themselves. In addition, UAVs communicate with each other to support the estimation of TDOA between pair(s) of UAVs and the emitter. The obtained DOA and TDOA information is fused at one UAV using an extended Kalman filter (EKF) to localize and track the mobile/static jamming emitter. In this method, we use DOA fusion to provide a good initialization of the emitter position to guarantee the EKF’s convergence speed. The emitter localization accuracy is provided by the fusion of TDOAs if three or more UAVs are available. The simulation results show that the localizing-tracking error is less than 15% of the range difference estimation error standard deviation with three UAVs that is accurate enough for jamming emitter destruction.

Geolocation of RF Emitters by Many UAVs
This paper presents an approach to using a large team of UAVs to find radio frequency (RF) emitting targets in a large area. Small, inexpensive UAVs that can collectively and rapidly determine the approximate location of intermittently broadcasting and mobile RF emitters have a range of applications in both military, e.g., for finding SAM batteries, and civilian, e.g., for finding lost hikers, ...

Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) can help smallcell base stations (SBSs) offload traffic via wireless backhaul to improve coverage and increase rate. However, the capacity of backhaul is limited. In this paper, UAV assisted secure transmission for scalable videos in hyper-dense networks via caching is studied. In the proposed scheme, UAVs can act as SBSs to provide videos to mobile users in some...

متن کاملDifferential Game-Theoretic Approach to a Spatial Jamming Problem
In this work, we investigate a jamming attack on the communication network of a team of UAVs flying in a formation. We propose a communication and motion model for the UAVs. The communication model provides a relation in the spatial domain for effective jamming by an aerial intruder. We formulate the problem as a zero-sum pursuit-evasion game. In our earlier work we used Isaacs’ approach to obt...
